Two different fishing techniques were used on this trip. In Oregon City we were back trolling eggs and sand shrimp. In Milwaukie we were forward trolling 360 flashers. Our Garmin Livescope picked up two of the fish just before the rod buried although I didn't capture that on video. Fishing with David Pyle.

    Thanks for posting these quick "fishamine"(dopamine reference) videos. I grew up down in Vancouver but live on the east side of the state now so my salmon opportunities are reduced to a handlful of trips each year. I live vicariously through takedowns from youtubers like you during the dry spells. Maybe one day I'll be able to trade the smells of pine and constant dry skin for rotten wood and cool, salty air again.

    David mentioned watch out for hooks in the face if pops hook. My wife and I were on a guide trip. Guide and four clients. I got a fish and guy in front of me got a Springer. Guy behind me hooks into a Springer and he is really trying to yard it in. He had said how much fishing he has done and he is trying to yard the fish in. Getting close to the boat and the guide ready with the net. This guy is pulling high sticking the rod up really hard and the Springer comes straight up out of the water and pops the hook. The lead ball on his line went buzzing right at the guides head. Guide ducted to one side and missed him. My first throught was I can run his boat back to the dock while someone calls 911. That lead was so close to nailing the guide in the head. Then this guy is all angry because the fish came off and claims my wife shouldn't be on the boat. Shouldn't have women fishing. I didn't hear that or I would of had something to say to the jerk. My wife got out and grabbed her stuff and off to the car. I had to wait for my fish. Didn't know what was wrong till I got to the car. Guide trips you never know what you will deal with. We have had a number of trips where one person is really annoying, cigarette smoke all day long with one guy. Met some really great people too.

    • @DavidPyle
      @DavidPyle Місяць тому

      Bob, when I'm netting fish there are often times when hooks and lead could potentially come at my face. That being said, I was trying to be careful in not lining up Colin where "spit hooks" could do him harm. As for the rude passenger on your guide trip, that is a sad example of someone that I don't want on my boat. Fortunately, I've had really good people on my guide trips.

    • @Askeyb2011
      @Askeyb2011 Місяць тому

      @@DavidPyle I could tell you were careful. I was mainly commenting because what you said happens. We witnessed Cody Herman almost get hit. He obviously was alert and ready to get out of the way. The lead went by really fast being that the client was yarding on it so hard, way to hard. We have our own boat but go guide trips too especially to learn new areas. Buoy 10 we use to go first day with guide. Seems what works one year doesn’t the next depending on a number of thing. Guides that have been out every day figure out trends. We went one year where the guide dragged 16 oz lead on the bottom with 80’ of line out. Warm water and Sea Lions salmon hugging the bottom on green can line out of Hammond. We went back out in our boat doing the same thing and worked.
